The Mission
MicroTau's mission is to improve the efficiency of the global aviation fleet, saving billions in fuel and megatonnes of CO2 every year. We are hiring a Manufacturing Operations Team Lead to coordinate our supply chain, production, and quality activities, and deliver our film around the world for installation. You will report to our Chief Technology Officer.
What You Will Do
Lead and grow a world-class team across manufacturing, quality, and supply chain to deliver a product that will fly on thousands of aircraft and save megatonnes of CO2
Execute manufacturing, quality, and supply chain processes, to meet production forecasts, maintain supply continuity, and comply with quality requirements appropriate for aviation applications
Drive project management of operational initiatives: track progress, measure impact, communicate feedback, and escalate changes to execution to ensure key milestones are met on time and project objectives are achieved
Train and mentor team members in capabilities such as process execution, audits and assessments, traceability and documentation, non-conformity management, and continuous improvement – empowering them to work more autonomously and efficiently
What Success Looks Like
First Month: You will get to know the engineers manufacturing our product and ensuring its quality, familiarise yourself with our progress to date, learn about our business-critical objectives and capability development goals over the short, medium, and long term. You will learn more about the MicroTau team, our processes, and how we embody our values of lift over drag, active transparency and changing the boundary conditions
First Six Months: You will coordinate manufacturing runs for upcoming riblet modification package installations, evolve our quality management system to comply with relevant targets by organising internal and external audits and refining quality control testing procedures, improve and maintain our enterprise resource planning (ERP) system to ensure appropriate traceability, and develop a long-term growth plan for the manufacturing operations team
First Year: You will grow the team and ensure professional development plans address key capability needs, perform supplier risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to ensure supply continuity, coordinate riblet film manufacturing using our scale processes, oversee supplier audits and assessments, ensure QMS compliance with international standards, and continue to maintain and improve our ERP system
About You
Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related discipline
Proven track record of leading, growing and mentoring teams in a highly regulated environment (e.g., aviation, automotive, medical), preferably with exposure to a start up or scale up organisation
Demonstrated success in creating quality management system documentation, and co-ordinating and assessing suppliers
Expertise managing a production line
Experience using and improving Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems for supply chain and procurement, production, engineering change management and non-compliance management
Why You Should Join MicroTau
Impact: Aviation is one of the hardest to abate industries, and its share of global emissions is only growing. Join our mission to improve the efficiency of the global fleet and save millions of tonnes of CO2 every year
Technology: Our technology leverages the drag-reducing properties of shark skin to make aircraft more efficient. You'll be exposed to expertise and developments in materials, photolithography, fluid dynamics, and scale manufacturing
Team: Our team focuses on achieving our mission. We live our values of lift over drag, active transparency, and changing the boundary conditions, and we welcome new team members who want to do the same
Corporate Jet: We have (most of) a corporate jet. It won't fly, but it sure does look cool
