The Mission

MicroTau's mission is to improve the efficiency of the global aviation fleet, saving billions in fuel and megatonnes of CO2 every year. We need a Financial Accountant to ensure that our financial reporting is accurate, our processes are efficient, and that we are able to support growth and informed decision making throughout the business. You will report to our Finance Manager.

What You Will Do

  • Complete month-end close activities, including journal preparation, and reconciliations.

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, budget-to-actual reporting, and support quarterly and annual budget preparation

  • Support accurate general ledger coding in line with AASB accounting policies.

  • Prepare and maintain financial workbooks in line with AASB accounting standards.

  • Manage asset accounting, including capitalisation, depreciation calculations, disposals, and maintenance of the fi xed asset register.

  • Support audit preparation and compliance requirements, including grant reporting calculations, schedules, and AASB-aligned documentation.

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to collect, clarify, and validate financial data.

  • Contribute to finance projects, system enhancements, and process improvements.

  • Promote a collaborative, ethical, and high-integrity finance culture.

What Success Looks Like

  • First Month: You will get to know the team and company culture. You will have obtained an understanding of the product, company roadmap, and have a good grasp of company financials

  • First Six Months: You will be able to prepare regular grant reports and management accounts on your own, along with AASB journal workbooks to account for MicroTau’s transactions. You will also be able to identify financial areas for improvement and provide suggestions to improve those areas

  • First Year: You actively contribute to the improvement of the financial processes at MicroTau. You will be able to prepare month end, management accounts and grant reports accurately and efficiently. You will maintain accurate AASB workbooks and determine the accounting treatment of various contracts in line with the AASB accounting standards. You will support audit requests and positively contribute to building an effective and accurate finance function

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and recently qualified Chartered Accountant (CA)

  • Strong understanding of Australian Accounting Standards (AASB)

  • Excellent attention to detail, with strong time management and organisational skills

  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders

  • Proficient in Excel

  • Experience with accounting software such as Xero is advantageous, but not required

  • Experience at a Big-4 accounting fi rm is a bonus, but not essential
